I'm late tuning in today, so maybe this has already been discussed, but I got a big kick out of the Iraqi statement that "If the inspectors find anything, the US must have planted it". ROTFLMAO! Got to give those guys credit. They really do have a sense of humor!

Because, try as we might, we don't have proof. If there was proof, we'd release it - I don't believe that stuff about "ruining our sources" because EVERYONE knows you can image something the size of a large rock from space and they've had a lot of clear weather for the last 12 years...

We'll see on Wednesday next week if the U.S. has anything. The chemical weapons accusation all came back negative, BTW. I'm not sure why Bush is pushing on this other than for the oil. We'd love to have another friendly government there like we used to with the Shah of Iran. We saw how that turned out in the long run. It has taken 20 years to make up for that and for us to now start supporting a secular movement in IRAN (as GWB did in his speech) seems, at least a little, insensitive.

George,

re:It is very frustrating that so few either do not understand, do not want to admit, or do not stress that the danger from Saddam

Likewise that Saddam agreed 12 years ago to stop building weapons and that he would cooperate fully in the inspectors work of observing there destruction. He has done little to cooperate for years now and even threw out the inspectors. Why should anyone believe he has no weapons, why does he want to give the world the impression he's not abiding by his promises?

Why does he need the weapons?

It's funny that the liberals when asked simple questions regarding Saddam, they agree he has weapons, he's a mad man etc., but they never want to do anything about the problem. Just play games forever, or until he throws out the inspectors again. The UN needs to live up to it's charter and enforce it's decisions, even if that includes doing something in the future about Israel.

As for the ties to Al Queda, this worries me - is it strategy or new information? I believe without any Al Queda connections we and the UN have enough to move against Iraq. I do buy the FUD regarding Saddam giving weapons away, but whether it's already happened or if it will be a result of pursuing Saddam, I cannot say.
