Are you calling the kettle black? Me an extremist? For fiscal responsibility, smart-strong military, tougher laws, death penalty, honesty, payroll tax cuts and fair play. Try again. I agree just as much with Pat Buchanon as I do Ralph Nader. I'm a centrist-progressive and maybe a little bit libertarian. I dont want any welfare state. Old-style liberalism turns me off. I dont want government looking down my pants or supporting illegal aliens. And I dont want to see the rich white collar crooks, lobbyists and military-industrial hustlers screw us up the you-know-what and loot our treasury (which I paid about $350,000 into in recent years by the way). So when they waste my money on a military boondoggle or give away public lands to pollutors and let Bill Gates have an extra 25 billlion he doesn't even want, I get pissed. And I also dont like the average working stiff paying 40% in withholding taxes while the billionaires skip the country with their loot. That goes for Marc Rich as well as Kenny Lay. Nomatter what party. But I'm also a realist. Power will corrupt. Just that in this administration the corruption started before they were even in power. And I also dont like Presidents who speak out the sides of their mouth, promise the moon and then go back on half their promises. The Environmental president, the education president, Leave No Child Behind, Clear Skies, Healthy Forests, Axis of Evil - all a buncha BS and you all ought to realize it. CLinton BS'ed too but GW has raised it to a high art form. And basically he's just reading speeches operatives craft for him to get re-elected. Smart politics maybe but inherently dishonest. As for Rumsfield, he comes from military corporations and stands to profit a lot from deals like SDI. Just wait to see how much he pockets once he leaves office. The old Washington money tree merry-go-round. And no shame at all. One thing you have to admire carter for, he never took the money. That's why he won the Nobel and Bush Sr. just wins a large stock portfolio to pass along to his grandkids with no estate taxes, thanks to Sonny Boy. The Bushes have always been greedy. No secret there. Always trying to cut corners and make fast bucks. At our expense usually. or someone's. PS - One last thing on estate tax cuts, it totally takes away incentives to give away part of your estate to charity. So goodbye college scholarships, churches, hunger programs, etc. No tax no write-off needed. Just another thing maybe no one has thought of yet.
