"Secretary of State Colin Powell will appear next Wednesday before the Security Council and present new information and intelligence that the White House hopes will bolster its argument of Iraqi deception and non-cooperation and also strengthen its assertion that Baghdad indeed possesses contraband weapons."

This is the tip of the iceberg. Powell will present electronic communications intercepts that prove Iraqis were moving materiel around to avoid the inspectors. Clearly, a smoking gun.

After next week, they're all onboard. The war begins on March 1.

Its not a sudden point. The "deflation" takes some time. But it is pretty much done. Because of the artifical inflation I would not compare Bush's poll results to previous polls of Bush's support but rather to the poll results for other presidents. Bush does pretty well here. Another thing to look at is the sucess of the Republicans in the most recent elections.
