Bush just announced his budget. OUCH! More than 1 trillion deficits, or at least 610 bilion the first two years and admitting the next three years will also run in the red.
Kent Conrad (D) says not even these numbers add up. If these numbers are over-optimistic then we could get into the 2-3 trillion range deficits. The deficits seems to be similar to the amount of lost revenues from Bush's tax cuts. So literally now we are starting to live and govern on the big credit card thanks to the tax cuts. And if there is little consumer stimulus? Look out below. The markets are going to hate this. And interest rates will probably move back up too. Think of the interest we'll owe on a 2 trillion dollar debt.

I wish it weren't true but I fear it is. The only "good" thing announced was Bush is finally going to fully fund the IRS to go after tax cheats. That's a John Kerry issue. He wants those tens of billions in offshore tax havens. And why not? Kerry by the way will tell Americans, either you get your tax cuts or we have to slash-slash-slash and go into debt. Take your pick. One honest man who tells us what we should already know. Bush will never tell you "it's your debt" onjly that "it's your money". But until we the voters think with our brains and elect people who seem to balance budgets, even if taxes are temporarily raised, then we're stuck with this menace to our futures. And watch out when the baby Boomers retire all at once. Whoa!
