Thomas,, It took me a while to catch on. I don't think this is quite right:

I think you might be looking at a quality, or tendency, of modern religious believers, rather than of religions.

Tolerance is rather a late comer to religious believers - especially monotheists - and plenty still don't have it.

Fundamentalism was not only defined in that article but described.

TAW: I read it, but in that fundamentalism is not really defined, I place my interpretation on it. To me a fundamental quality of all religions is tolerance. Catholic mean universal. Fundamentalism is about the universal qualities of religions.

Looks like you're using it two different ways.
