My goodness Zonder.. Until Bush went to the UN and held it accountable for upholding its own binding resolutions, NOTHING was being "handled"... It's seems as if the rest of the world is CONTENT with forcing the US to maintain containment of Iraq, as we have for the past 12 years. After all, it's only US forces who have had to constantly rotate to the mid-east and maintain an air and sea presence there. And then we catch flack because the didn't "officially" authorize this US presence, even though they KNOW it's the only thing preventing Saddam from using violence against his Kurdish and Shiite Arab population... As far as I'm concerned, the fault can lie with the UN. We're doing what they should have done years ago. We're the ones who are forcing them to show some "spine", even while they try and wiggle their way out AGAIN (by not inspecting Saddam's palaces)... As far as I'm concerned, the UN can pack up and close their doors. We'd hardly miss them... That's about how useful they have been towards promoting international peace and regional stability.Saddam is one bully. A bully who is largely subdued in the past 10 years, weakened and rather docile, presenting no danger and definitely no justification for an unprovoked invasion of Iraq. Docile????!!!! You act like he's some kind of pet now.. previously feral, but now domesticated... Zonder.. you're REALLY DELUDING YOURSELF MY DEAR, if you belief someone like Saddam can EVER be defined as "docile". If anything, he's only waiting for a new lease on life... A lease that would be attained the moment he obtained nuclear weapons to use as a nuclear shield (like N. Korea has). You think the US is involved now, can you only imagine what kind of US military presence would be required to fend off a nuclear Saddam??The US leads with 84.4% of total votes. What does that tell you, Hawk? It tells me that, of all the 330,000 people in that UNSCIENTIFIC poll did what I did... voted 10+ times (I split it between Korea and Iraq.. :0) Let's revisit this conversation 6 months from now to see what the polls say then...
