Republicans want a big government, they just don't want it to direct its spending toward poor people The GOP demands big gov't, then lies about it. Without big gov't the GOP would shrivel and die. The GOP is the party of massive fraud against the gov't, led by the Bush regime, while the Democrats have always barely existed as a party. Poor people, well, they're just cogs in the kleptocracy to be hit with hidden taxes, befuddled with disinformation and frightened with terrorism. Pretty simple really. Follow the money in any big gov't program like HUD or DOD, it inevitably leads to fraud, and cover-ups by GOP top- and mid-level bureaucrats and judiciary. The fraud is tolerated as long as you tithe part of the loot to the GOP for protection. None of this will be eliminated until there is full disclosure and transparency, which won't happen as long as the same people are running the same scams. HUD - $59 billion 'missing' DOD - $2.3 trillion 'missing' Along with the $1 trillion 10-yr Iraq debacle, the Missile Defense is the next big scam, a completely bogus program with completely secret tests that won't work, to siphon off $100 to $200 billion through defense contractor channels as payoffs to supporters, who skim off 10% to the next campaign.
