earlie, do you get hickey faxed to you? I just got mine. he has an absolutely scathing piece on the semi equip makers. he talks about the foundries beginning to acknowledge that their model of "build it and they will come" doesn't work. in the future they won't be building new leading edge fabs w/o partners.

whenever fred's missive comes they jam them, but maybe we saw the highs this am.

Earlie,

re: layoffs...
My daughter & son-in-law (the AA pilot) in St. Louis are putting their house on the market today ($295K) and planning their move to Colorado (he expects furlough in April at the latest, and immediately if war starts before then (war precludes any contract with employees).
Thing is; the daughter talked to the neighbor across the street. The husband's income (drug [legal] salesman) decreased by more than $20K last year and they are having to down size. Another neighbor (golf pro) has been layed off since Nov. (now a stay at home Mom) and his wife's job (sells small planes for a company) is in jeopardy and they are soon to list their house.

Hope all is well,
Bill/WA
