Anyone know the actual total $ amount of oil that US annually imports from Iraq? I believe it is only 2-3% of our total (usage), but I don't know total dollar value..

Trying to see if one can make an economic argument that it doesn't make sense to invade Iraq for oil (spending 50-100B for $x dollars oil per year....however, that $50-100b doesn't include add'l money for infrastructure, etc. of course.)

Even if we would "nationalize" (51st state) Iraq oil sent to us, we'd have to reinvest that money in Iraq anyway (assuming we don't rape/pillage). So really, economic net benefit of taking over oil for U.S. would be far less than total $ volume of annually imported Iraqi oil.....

I figure we gain a few billion a year for a war/clean-up costing far more than 100b (not including damaged relations). That doesn't seem like good capitalist thinking to me...and would blow a hole in the "we are in it for the oil" argument.
