believe US imports from Iraq through Jordan or Turkey. China, Japan, and Europe are more heavily dependent on ME oil than the US. some have nearly 80% of their gas imported from there. Asia will need more than twice as much oil as the US in the next decade.

china will very shortly pass the US as the world's largest oil customer. developing the ability to constrain their supply may be an early shot in Cold War II.

not saying it is, just that with kissinger hovering around the white house who knows what machinations they're spinning...
