Or anything else. :-)

Let's see. The US made the single largest contribution to victory in WW2. So we emerge as the preeminent world power. The French are pissed; obviously it should have been them, since they are so much more "cultured" (they think).

The US saves the frogs butts twice in the 20th century. That would require them to feel an extremely unnatural emotion for them- -a little gratitude. This pisses them off.

The US makes the most contributions to the most important inventions of the 20th century. So things related to them get English names. Such as RAM, floppy, etc. This sullies the "purity" of the the French language. This pisses them off. One of the things they never get is that part of the reason English speakers consistently outthink them is because of their magpie, versatile language that steals words from every other language it comes into contact with- -including French.

ANd then California has the unmitigated AUDACITY to produce good wine. THE NERVE! Screaming mad!

No wonder they are so pissed at us.
