Powell turns out to be the hero


If this thing backfires, Powell will get the boot, the stick and anything that the RWers can lay their hands on. Serves him right for being so shameless as to voluntarily become the servant of Bush and his cronies.

I agree that the equation of reservations with lack of patriotism was bogus from the start, although I will say that those who defamed the Administration do not get much sympathy from me. I actually think that it was the intention of Bush to go to the UN all along, but only after putting pressure on them to negotiate seriously on a resolution, by vowing to go it alone if need be. I think that there was no substantial disagreement between Powell and Rumsfeld, but that they played "good cop/bad cop" to impress people with the need to act..........
