tejek,

re: I agree that Saddam has breached the UN resolution but I don't believe war should be the likely response.

The problem I have with waiting or more inspectors is that Saddam doesn't intend to disarm, never has never will. I don't think it would matter if we put a 1000 inspectors on the ground. Worse what do you think he would do if they actually found something? Saddam will either have them killed on the spot starting the war or he will kick them out again - eventually starting a war.

If he was just dragging his feet on disarming that would be one thing - but I think Powell made the case he has no intention of disarming. The Germans and the French are being foolish and obstructionist. I think the Germans have financial transactions to hide and the French - will always attempt to counter US political power where ever and when ever they can. In the end I believe their greed and political desire to be involved in determining the future of Iraq and future lucrative contracts to rebuild infrastructure will get them on board.

We cannot just keep troops in the desert for another year, the time to act is being forced upon us by a confluence of circumstances including politics and nature.

Ted Re...I never said GW was threatening to fire him.

Sure you did. Read this next line you posted in that post. Excuse me.........Powell had two choices: quit or be a team leader. You decide which one he chose.
What the hell does that sound like to you. If you ask him to quit, it is in effect firing him.

This was back last summer, not now.

That was a rumor started by you. I never saw a link then or now. Provide one.

don't care what Cavuto said. I agree that Saddam has breached the UN resolution but I don't believe war should be the likely response.

What would your severe response be then. It was only through diligent intelligence and a defector, that a ricin attack on Paris was avoided. Do you really think a "I'm sorry " is good enough. Also, I said Corzine was on Cavuto, and Corzine said those things. Corzine is a noted peacenik, and if he says those things, you know there aren't any disbelievers left in congress.

agree that Saddam has breached the UN resolution but I don't believe war should be the likely response.

I am trying to figure out what exactly liberals think we SHOULD do about it. More inspections, when the inspectors themselves acknowledge they won't work without full compliance? More sanctions, which hurt only the Iraqi people?

What, exactly, SHOULD we do if not remove Saddam?
