"Imprinting" is the word for when the baby duck thinks the first thing it sees is its mother. And yes, that's what Venice did to me. Except that I've been to many foreign countries, and to a number of other cities and towns in Italy, and never had a reaction like this. Even in Paris. I had the fantasy of somehow being able to move all our friends to Venice. We stayed in NYC on Tues and Wednesday nights (79. a night including bkfst, for a perfectly good 3 star hotel on 50th and Bdway!) (quikbook.com) and saw lots of friends and realized we have to stay where we are.

You don't have to take up internet gaming; if you post "91..." in the middle of a conversation, we'll call an ambulance. Try to get the final '1' typed out, though, so as not to flummox us.
