When I complained to N that we'd missed the Venice special on the Travel Channel, he looked at me, genuinely puzzled, and pointed out that we'd just been to Venice in person. LOL. I'm still sorry, though, and if you see it announced again, do tell me. Oh, here's one thing I didn't mention. We didn't have much good food in Venice, being oafishly unable to distinguish between tourist traps and good food places. We had some good pasta once by accident, and did pass one highly-recommended (by guidebooks) osteria but were never able to find it again. It was in one of the darker parts of the beautiful maze that is Venice. We made the mistake of relying on one of the large freebie maps of the city that didn't include the names for most of the minor and interconnecting streets. Next time we are going to get the version we saw some people with which when you unfold it is the size of a bedspread. Right before we left we noticed some tourists wrestling with this giant product and envied them.
