If America cut of aid to Israel, I would attempt to quantify the effect on Israel in terms of what would be the decrease in the quality of life number.

Let's say life in Israel on average is 30 times the quality of life of Palistinians and OH say 6 times better than the average Arab.

I'm just throwing out numbers.

Sans aid maybe QOL would go down 25%. I don't see that as dire.

There is aid and there is commitment to defense. I cannot fathom abandoning the defense commitment. So aid seems to have only a limited leverage. IMEO.

But in defense, Israel solo is one nasty bunch to tango with.

<You need to put a gun to both sides head.>

Agreed. That's exactly what I propose. If the Palestinians don't stop all violence, give up the Right of Return, and help shut down organizations like Hamas that won't make a compromise peace, then (after a 6-month interval to give it a chance to work), Sharon gets everything he wants, we back him without reserve, and the Palestinians lose their last chance to get a State west of the Jordan River.

There is no trust involved. Both sides have to be willing to compromise, or they get punished.

If Arafat (or whoever is in control of the Palestinians) isn't willing to make peace, if he won't give up the goal of ending the Jewish State, then we should allow Israel to expel any Palestinians who won't make peace, into Jordan. That's a serious sword to hold over their head.
