Egad! It's as bad as all that? One would think Herr Schoeder might soon receive a delegation of SPD "elders" urging the Chancellor to resign, if only for the good of the party. At the very least, they might advise him to stop mucking about in "Foreign Affairs" and concentrate on healing the German economy.

It's down to 22%? What are they waiting for? The teens? Goodness gracious, even Chavez is more popular.

The thing that would kill Schroeder, IMO, is a quick, successful, outcome in Iraq. Take the wind out of the sails of the anti-war left there, and expose him to attack for ruining Germany's relationship with the US. I have mentioned before that the Neocon group in our Gov are very anti-Germany anyway. This just helps cement their feelings.
