What I meant was...

Because I hadn't heard anything from my older next door neighbor, a widower, for a few days, I told my son, "Bennie, I want you to go next door and see how Old Mr. Schlemiel is."

A few minutes later, the boy returns.

"So tell me, is he all right?" I asked.

"He's fine, but he's annoyed with you," he says.

"At me? Whatever for?"

"Well," says my son, "Mr. Schlemiel told me it's none of your damn business how old he is."
