I don't doubt that Schröder will not be re-elected in 2006. But that will be because of the economic and not the Iraqi situations. Schröder, in contrast to Bush, recognizes that taking part in an Iraqi war will make things worse economically than not. As for the dilemma, the trans-Atlantic ties are being weakened by Bush and Blair. They are the ones who are trying to make a mockery of the EU and its fledgling foreign policy.
