Karzai is an interim figure....the country still has not been totally pacified...

I'm not saying that. The country needs some leadership. Karzai is a good start. You are being critical for its own sake. To suggest that there should be "REAL" elections there doesn't fit with reality, a legitimate election today is impossible.

If I defend the U.S. position in Afghanistan because their's is the only workable one I can think of. How about you, what do you suggest? My afghani friends laughed and laughed at your notion that a "REAL" election would work in Afghanistan today. "Out to lunch," was one comment.
