Birth is an easy distinction. All I need is a practical dividing line. There is no other place to draw the line that makes any logical sense. Either you protect every fertilized egg from conception on- not something I think we should do, or you allow the killing of anyone, and again, that's not something we should do.

Birth is just there, as a nice bright line. I like it for that. I don't need to distinguish between a newborn and a fetus. If it is before birth, it's before birth- no other distinction is necessary.
