Our nation has covertly supported many coups and, in fact, helped the Bath party of Iraq assassinate the former head of Iraq and place Saddam in power. Saddam's first assassination attempt was unsuccessful and ended in the wounding of Saddam himself. They were subsequently successful in a second attempt and Saddam wrestled control in the period following that coup.

The GOd you describe in your post is not a God that I would have any interest in worshipping under any circumstances. I would never call any entity "God" that had supported the slaughter of thousands of innocents in many countries around the world. As Americans we overlook the cruelty of many leaders and only choose to "take out" the ones that suit our fancy for selfish reasons..............you claim that is sanctioned by God?

Many Christians also believe that monetary riches indicate a blessing from God. DOes that mean that poor people are not blessed and in God's favor?

As AMericans, many seem to need to think that GOd is on our side. I ask you, what would Christ say about this imminent invasion that Bush is about to start? I cannot, under any circumstances believe for a NY minute that CHrist would condone this violent action. And, the head of almost every church on this earth agrees with me so I feel quite confident that my thinking is not off center.

We tend to think that God answers prayers in battles and allows one side to "win" who is in his favor. If that was true than Bin Ladin must have been in God's favor on 9/11!!!!! God wasn't blessing AMerica on that day was he?

There is a verse in Mathew that describes Christ chastising the Apostles for allowing themselves to think of "God" in human terms. Men often describe GOd in the image of themselves....................GOd is not human with all our frail egos, needs and emotions.

From a spiritual plane, the massive killing, misery and pain that is about to unleash cannot be from the hands of a loving GOd....................sorry, but it comes from elsewhere. Open your eyes.....put down your box of crayons and start using your brain when dealing with people that appear to be religious.

Politicians know that religious people vote so they play that card to get their support. How could anyone kill thousands in the name of God and think it's blessed? I am including George Bush in that category along with Bin Ladin.

Our nation has never "gone to War' to free a dictator or put a dictator into power.

First, let's note that you put quotes around those words, even though I didn't say them. Here is what I said:

"majority of our foreign interventions have been to defend dictators against their people"

Just to pick an example at random, the Vietnam War began in the 1950s with our defense of the dictator Diem, helping him suppress the most popular political party of the area, the National Liberation Front. In other words, we were defending a dictator against his people. During the course of the war, we supported a series of dictators and military juntas, but never a popular political group. Eventually, we killed several million people in our bid to keep Indochina from achieving self-determination and independence.

As for your statement (assuming it is true), the fact that we were able to overthrow democracies and install dictatorships without a full scale war is hardly a sensible defense of our anti-democratic foreign policy.

Tom

What God? USA is GOD! It is totally and completely ridiculous and outrageous that the rest of the world does not agree with the US. When are they going to realize that the United States of America IS GOD, at least at the beginning of the 21st century. The Bush doctrine will replace the Talmud, the Bible and the Koran. This the way of the 21st century and beyond. US will dictate and the rest obey, or face the consequences. What the heck is going on???? China just joined France, Germany, and Russia to allow for extension and expanding the UN inspection team. How dare they??

This peaceful baloneys keep postponing the monsoon season of US bombs and daisies and biochemical and neuropsychochemical pixie dusts in large populated cities in Iraq for months or even years. How dare they interfere with the force of nature. USA is GOD and force of nature. When will the rest of the world learn? Is there anymore sanity in the rest of the world? Don't they know that USA is the greatest and godliest supertanker on earth? How dare they challenge USA?

Lets all sing "Glory, glory, halleluyah!" to USA.
