<<"That certainly explains the billion dollar deficits: too much income"

How about wasted taxpayer money? I think the trillion or so they take in a year should be enough to get by.>>

Tell that to the Republicans running the show. They're the ones setting records for spending and deficits.

<<Social Security is the main one, and is for the retirement for people who don't or can't save money on their own>>

You might want to bone up a little on Social Security.

Payroll taxes are paid by everyone, starting with their first dollar of income. Estate taxes are paid by less than 2% of Americans.

So when Republicans refuse to reduce payroll taxes (paid by all workers) yet repeal the estate tax (paid by almost no one), and then say "you have to pay taxes to get a tax cut" well that's pretty outrageous.

<<They have some of the highest tax rates and they have the biggest social problems.>>

Except Europe, Canada, and Japan have higher tax rates than we do, and they have less social problems.

New York and California (two high tax states) are number one and two in economic productivity accounting for over 20% of our nation's gdp just by themselves.

If you look at a list of the nation's top universities, you'll see they're mostly in high tax states.
