With AMAT in the 8-10 area, IMO it's a toss-up whether to use stock or longest-term LEAPs. Below 8, definitely LEAPs. Above 10, definitely stock

Why do you prefer LEAPS to stock as price declines? Is it based on a determination that the doubling you seek is more likely with lower at-the-money strike purchase?
