Because it was mostly jokes.
About French military prowess. Which is pretty easy to poke fun at, true. Easy target.

One of them was a fake google page where info on "French military victories" had been requested. Google came back with "Did you mean French Military Defeats?"

Another was a joking French military history since its conquest by Ceasar. One of the things it was "France was thus the only nation ever to lose to the Italians twice." (Can't remember what the second defeat was.)
