Far superior to the pdf link I gave, which seems to be scanned page bitmaps packed into pdf

Yeah, and did you look at some of the other documents, like the list of recipients ? I got a laugh out of that one, talk about "Born Before Xerox", let alone Windows - I'd wager they had the secretary make a carbon copy when she typed it up, LOL !

In short more than a passing resemblance to times of McCarthy. So we've had a grotesque sucker punch from a bunch of lunatic towel-heads, and it won't be the last regardless of our foreign policy. But there's no reason to go absolutely nuts, and nothing really justifies this power grab on the part of Ashcroft and the other opportunists.

There's a strong chance the economy will be deep enough in the toilet by the next elections and the public so fed up over it that the present administration will be voted out on that score before irreparable harm is done. I'm seeing cracks on "main street" already, local enterprises are hurting due to a dramatic drop in business, and it's not just the sh**hole weather here in New England to blame for that.

Actually, some of this Patriot Act nonsense is what Andy Grove warned about in his book "Only the Paranoid Survive", namely the disease of reorganizing when you don't have a clue what to really do.
