You forget that no inspections AT ALL would be taking place in Iraq if the US had not placed something like 170,000 troops in the region. How many has Canada put in to help?

Saddam certainly was unwilling to put up with UN inspectors BEFORE those troops were there. And have you noticed that as pressure is relaxed, he becomes more devious and obstreperous and then backs off as the US turns up the heat?

UN. Yeah, right. They are a real big help. Frankly, at this point I think the US should pull out and the rest of you can have a circle jerk.

Iraq has little productive to say in any case. We were talking about the Security Counsel discussions ABOUT Iraq for these last several months.
Iraq IS what this is about. All you seem to want is more pointless hot air.

They are following protocol, and as in a lawful trial every member with something to say is speaking for the benefit of the counsel.
There is no international cop and this is proving that.

The UN has prevented Nations from annihilating one another.
It has? The only time it does ANYTHING is when the US gets involved. Europe sat there for YEARS and watched a civil war ravage the Balkans without lifting a finger until the US got involved. Some example of "peacekeeping" they set. Civil wars and wars have raged in Africa and the UN acted like it was in a coma.

If Canada is thinking of relying on the UN to keep it safe, your gov't has lost its mind. You'd better stick with NATO and the US. Or a new alliance with the US if it decides to junk NATO because the French and Germans have been bribed by Saddam.
