Slacker,
Isolationism is the evil twin of Internationalism in the US. And yes sometimes it doesnt seem so evil. If the UN & Nato are reduced in stature, we must create new organizations that suit the worlds real needs. Isolationism buys us time and nothing else.
If it werent for Pearl Harbor we might have remained isolationist in WW2. Germans might then have won WW2. Even if Hitler had left the US alone afterwards, a world like that is one i would choose not to live in.
But after this weeks terror scare in NY, i can understand the motivation of an isolationist. Bin laden would probably leave us alone while he expanded first in moslem countries and in contiguous countries. Who will be begging us for help them, our fast friends from europa. mike
