David, <This time we are making it abundantly clear through Psy-Ops that if they fight they will die.>

The unfortunate thing is that if they don't fight, they and their families will die.

I guess the only way out for them is to give them hope for a new Iraq. If only we didn't have liberals killing any shred of hope they have through their endless intellectualism.

Meanwhile, I find it funny that Belgium is willing to judge Israel's leader on human rights violations, but has said absolutely nothing about Saddam Insane's. Maybe if Saddam were to agree to exile, Belgium would welcome him with open arms. They deserve him.

Last time Saddam played right in to our strong point by allowing us to smack his army around in open terrain away from cities. If his army does fight for him this time the casualty ratio will still be heavily tilted to his disadvantage but probably not by the over 100 to 1 that it was last time. We have even better smart weapons now and a larger % of our weapons are smart weapons but Saddam and his generals have had about 12 years to think of how we crushed them last time. It could mean that they will fight smarter this time or it could mean that they surrender quicker this time...

Unless Saddam is overthrown I expect the Republican Guard, the Special Republican Guard, and the Presidential bodyguard to fight. They are his most loyal, best trained, and best equiped units. But they will face an opponent with greater numbers, better recon, more money, better training, better logisitics, more skilled and flexible officers, a system that allows for individual initiative rather then ponderous centralized plans, better morale, and better technology. They are probably smart enough and self interested enough not to fight to the bitter end.

The regular army might not do much. There morale and training is mostly poor and they are not hand picked for loyalty but rather consist of anyone who can hold a rifle and go to the front. They where tripping over themselves to be the first to surrender last time and I would not be surprised if they do it again this time.
