nicely put ....suppose if people were more in touch with their own inward journeys , instead of being pushed and driven by the winds of those you just mentioned :

need and envy and hate..not to mention

power pride and being in the right and territorial imperative(need again)

we could have more cognitive "resonance" rather than cognitive dissonance .

(Resonance and resonate are two of my favorite words in the english language..can be applied universally to almost anything and improve the perception)

The apologetics I have seen them screw themselves up with , regarding "God" & the universe and his "Will" and purposes is most laughable when the authors of such distinctions begin with the premise of proving the other fellow wrong.

It is the most glaring in Christianty and Islam takes over in close second place . All the while the Hindu is there trying to seek unification and explains that there are grains of truth in every religion , which is what always must be the case... even if in the end God were to be proven to not exist , that would have been the proper attitude for men to have for all that duration of belief.
Hindus have rarely needed then to cross their own borders seeking to "unite" others with "their God".

It bothers me to no end , that these monolithic Religions of the BOOK , do not really embrace rejoice or celebrate each other . That is one of the glaring failing of them all. though much lip-service is paid , it is usually very hollow. To love an "Almighty" so much , but in the next sentence , act , or line in the poem and slogans of their lives to be denouncing the other . Bahais come to mind trying to rid themselves of this habit.

What would be so bad that in every "Church" to have a corner set aside for "Buddha" , and another corner set aside for the Yogi , and another for one of the "Faithful" where there be no human images standing in the way before God to offend him? They could get to know one another this way . But not in many Mosques could you get away with this . And that is sad for there is common ground all around. It is not ever a matter of my river is holier than yours., my sacred city closer to God than yours ..the holy land is just right there , under your feet , not a place in Israel.

Well that's the territorial imperative for you ...but some things can cross borders like music and art that can reach the other . But there's always those who's job it is to "Defend"....and stand at the borders ready to "Condemn"
when they all they have really done , is taken the symbol and the "holy" and concretized them , thus losing all the meaning .

such is the world at large , the little playground of dreams it really is.
