OT - WUWT, the French won't be too concerned about insults from the average American who is 20-30 pounds overweight, drives a gas-guzzling SUV that cost $40,000 for a 4WD vehicle they don't need, thinks that the nearest chain restaurant by the strip mall is a fine dining experience, has $20,000 in high-interest credit card debt, couldn't remember more than five words of whatever foreign language he failed to learn at school and generally has no clue about (or interest in) any other culture but his own.

Most western Europeans don't require a visa to visit the US now - because most are unlikely to stay. They aren't interested in giving up what they like in their own lifestyle for what the US offers.

I am not trying to start a food fight here, just pointing out how easy it is to ridicule any country and its people. Considering the general bunch of doofuses we have in Washington on both sides of the aisle, we aren't much to brag about a lot of the time.

It's a good thing we have the finest military ever seen on the planet. I wouldn't rely on our politicians to organize a Sunday picnic without screwing it up. I wouldn't take Hastert seriously if he was talking about the change of the seasons, much less foreign policy.
