Man I don't know where this is headed. I just don't believe we can unwind this thing now without losing all credibility in the region.

The war is going to happen......so don't worry your little head. Bush has made sure of that. The only thing that may, and I repeat may, stop it is if Blair is forced to withdraw. I think there is a 50/50 chance of that may happening.

With whom in the region do we really have or have ever had any credibility, other than Israel? While I don't believe that all of the Arab/Muslim nations there would like to destroy the U.S., I hardly believe any of them would shed a tear if we faded off into the sunset.

It seems clear to me that we are focusing a lot of energy on the Kurds and the Shiites and I believe we'll be trying to use them much the way we did the Northern Alliance in Afghanistan.

Something like that but their role will probably be defensive. They just need to secure their areas and prevent atrocities by isolated Iraqi units while we crack the main body of the Iraqi army.
