This is true of any immature process. If we advance the cause of peaceful resolution, we'll get better at it. A friend of mine once said, "What you subsidize, you get more of, and what you tax, you get less of." Actually, believe it or not, I'm a socially-conscious capitalist and believe that principles of natural systems applies to economic and political systems. I fully expect that real backing of the U.N.'s role by the U.S. in a morally consistent manner, even when it isn't convenient for us, would promote the meaningfulness and success of U.N. involvements globally.
