I gather that you're Catholic, but if you were fundamentalist Protestant, you'd believe that every word in the Bible is the literal word of God, and that Christ said he did not come to take away one word of the Old Testament. (Matt. 5:17-20)"Do not think I came to abolish the law or the prophets. I did not come to abolish but to fulfill."

Meanwhile, speaking of Islam, there are many flavors of Islam, as well. My own favorite is Sufi. Take a look at it, you might be pleasantly surprised.
