Nice, as long as your relatives are not living under it, right?

No, not nice, no matter whose relatives are at stake. But a war will be tough on the people of Iraq, too. They're the ones sitting under the bombs, not my relatives. And if the war blows up in our face and the Middle East or Islamdom goes ballistic as a result of the war, the people of Iraq and a lot of other people, possibly including my relatives, will suffer. What is the probability that the net suffering by somebody's relatives will be less with a war than containment? I don't know. We do have a pretty good idea what the worst case scenario is with containment, at least short term. The alternative is a guessing game. One thing's for sure, though. Acting like this war is a blemish-free cure-all is not rational.
