How did you like that remark by Chirac yesterday about the Eastern Europe Countries that signed the Letter opposing him last week? it was totally unacceptable, and I think it will backfire on him. The way for us to counter such crap, however, is by seeming to be the image of sweetness and reason ourselves (so as to gain ground with undecided bystanders) while taking steps behind the scenes to punish France if they don't, in fact, come around. best quote of the day, from the WSJ--apparently the French translation of "cheese-eating surrender monkeys" is "primates who capitulate and are always in search of cheese." tb@primatesandkings.com
