c2....interesting that none of the containment folks have answered your question as yet....or helped to shed light on this "policy". That's because they can't. Containment has been proven not to work. Its linchpins, sanctions and inspections, did not work. Why do you think we are in the pickle we face now? Because containment has been effective? Puhhleeeze! Despite all the blather here that the future effectiveness of containment has been discussed ad nauseum, and that it is therefore no longer worthy of argument, the simple fact is that containment as a policy has not been rigorously debated here. The argument has been given a dismissive hand-wave. And we all know why.
