Re. my recent post to you - are you playing mimic with you daughter yet? Turns out that has some profound implications, if you believe in memetics.

Hi Lurq.

I meant to reply to that message but sometimes I caught up
in something and then to forget to come back to it.

With out realizing it, I've been doing something similar to
what you describe. I mimic her but I haven't been paying
attention to see if she tries a different sound. I just
sort of keep making the sound that is most common to her.

I'm going to pay closer attention.

She's only recently discovered her voice. When she's awake
and alert she tries talking. Sometimes she says a mouthful.

I'm glad you mentioned this. I'll see if she responds.

Been playing Mozart and Beethoven for her. They say it
helps stimulate brain activity or something. There is also
a DVD/Tape out there called Baby Einstein. Basically they
show different types of toys or interesting objects similar
to a lava lamp or perpetual motion gadgets you find at
Sharper Image. Or they have a puppet or choo choo train
going forward and backward. Then they sing or talk in many
different foreign languages.

Don't know if it's working yet but she does get engrossed
in it at times.

I haven't gotten her to mimic anything yet but that might
be because she's been busy working on a few calculus
problems. <g>

Sometimes I come home and the baby is asleep but my wife is
staring at the bubbles on TV and singing the alphabet song
in Chinese.
