Most of the "family farms" should never have been started in the first place. Those that are failing were marginal from the get go and were kept alive by the farm subsidy programs. We would have a great deal more forest today but for this. Where I grew up a high percentage of such land has been allowed to go back to forest and all the better.

Agreed. If small uneconomic 'family farms' are so great... look to China.

They have plenty of 'em.
