Yes, you are right. It is a shame. Jacob's >>Every nation creates a mythology about itself<< should include both China and the USA. I just happen to believe in the myth "created" by China, he believes the myth created by the US. So there is no point to argue. I cannot convince him, and he cannot convince me either. Then what is the point to keep arguing? Let's just agree to disagree. The funny thing is that a lot of people in this country claim they believe in freedom of speech, or democracy, but in reality, they never take a Disagreement as an answer. just like Bush's my way or high way.
