<lot of people in this country [US] claim they believe in freedom of speech, or democracy, but in reality, they never take a Disagreement as an answer.>

I disagree with your point of view, but you have the right to express your point of view.

The funny thing is that a lot of people in this country claim they believe in freedom of speech, or democracy, but in reality, they never take a Disagreement as an answer.

YiWu,

I recommend that you read Thomas Kuhn's Structure of Scientific Revolutions. It takes a long time for people to be able to hear new ideas. It has nothing to do with free speech.

just like Bush's my way or high way

Bush's paradigm shift is meeting the same type of resistance. Notice you assume you are right and Bush is wrong. This is the same cognitive filtering process that prevents people from hearing what you have to say sometimes.

Human nature is a bitch.

Paul

I just happen to believe in the myth "created" by China, he believes the myth created by the US. So there is no point to argue. I cannot convince him, and he cannot convince me either.

Myths are stories. You could always look at facts and see if the stories are true.

No, I don't:
Message 18548481

When the Myth doesn't match the history,
when the theory doesn't match the facts,
we have two choices:
1. ignore facts/history
2. change theory/Beliefs.

What people choose to do, seems to have little to do with their intelligence or knowledge. Many geniuses who have thoroughly studied a subject, choose to ignore all inconvenient facts and history.

"The Structure of Scientific Revolutions" is an excellent book, has wide applicability to understanding history, mythology, politics.
