Uh huh... And I suppose Belgians were victims of the phalangists??

And why have we not seen the Belgians involved in indicting Arafat for the years of terrorist hijackings and bombings the PLO has been responsible for??

Should the Israelis (and other victim nations) seek to have Arafat indicted for War Crimes in Belgian courts?? Is Belgium now going to replace The Hague as the venue where war criminals are prosecuted..

It isn't so much the fact that they are trying to indict Sharon in Belgium, but rather the extremely biased and arbitrary manner in which they choose their "test cases".. I can think of any number of FAR GREATER perpetrators of horrendous War Crimes (such as Saddam Hussein) where the Belgians have done NOTHING.

In fact, since Belgium is unwilling to uphold its UN responsibilities to enforce UNSC binding resolutions against, theoretically that could make them accessories to Saddam's continued crimes against humanity.

That's my point.. I'm don't have any vested interest in defending Sharon.. I could care less about him except that he's the elected leader of Israel (elected through a system that included viable opponents).

Kumar & others who questioned Belgium's intention to judge Sharon

I was not questioning their intention - they made that very clear. I was questioning their jurisdiction.

The article you posted seems to imply "other countries do similar things, so its OK for Belgium too". I would question the jurisdiction of the other countries too.
