Wanting to get rid of Saddam Hussein does not make anyone a bloodthirsty monster or a tool of the oil companies. Being worried to death about the consequences of invading Iraq does not make anyone unpatriotic or in favor of Saddam Hussein.

Hey, nobody says that the hearts of the war critics are in the wrong place (except for some of the hard-left organizers like ANSWER). It is the condition of their heads that we are criticising. Anyone who can look at the situation and say with a straight face "the inspections are working" - which even the amiable Mr. Blix does not claim - is indulging in wishful thinking of the worst kind.

I know that Messrs. Chirac and Schroeder say it too, but I would never insult the intelligence of either of these gentlemen by thinking that they actually believed it.
