If the franco german alliance hadn't occurred there would have more not less of a chance for saddam to come to his senses, assuming he has senses. The left gave him hope, not by design, but hope nevertheless. There should be a mandatory class given by Ken (pollack or Fault Line) in Foreign Policy for all americans and french and germans too.
