But I disagree that few people use US services or complain about Canadian. There are businesses that make money just providing US medical services to Canadians. Medical service you may view as a need, how much right to needs is up to your philosophy. I guess you could say that people will mandate access that is fairly easy to what they most need. But free? So we pay nothing for it? Oh now.. is that so, no payroll deduction? No tax component? Who do we charge for these too costly services? The Lithuanians? I did not say the recipients of this dubious largesse for decades dying and not knowing any better trade it for something even more poorly managed, but surely we could save on admin costs of 65% could we not? And concerning doctor shopping and visits, I have been told by many doctors that they were not taking any more patients and to visit emergency, and that there was only one physical allowed per year, despite the fact that medical statistics and the colleges recommend 2 per year especially for patients over 50. And there is a limitation now on special checks for cancer, which is plainly epidemic and with susceptible people frequent checks are now thought to be a valuable aid to early diagnosis. Great system. Glad your patient, long suffering friends have not specials needs or complaints. I know grave markers that testify that not enough research is done, and checkups and care are not frequent or advanced enough, as Medicare's costs are eating the funds available for them. EC<:-}
