To define our Foreign Policy and write it down in blood is not a good idea. It would leave us unable to respond to the ever -changing environment ( I did not know the French were so much anti-American) and
other Nations would peruse it word by word to see how they could make it unworkable or not applicable to their own desires.
Defining it in terms such as in the Constitution , would require so many amendments as to make it indecipherable.
The priorities are very simple, get rid of Saddam and his WMD'S first and swiftly, then see what can be salvaged from the present leadership or institutions that would be best for the Iraq as a country.
The debate over how Saddam is handled will soon be over.
For Iraq, the US Adminstration is the main seeker of peace over there, regardless of our own disagreements
or the recent demonstrations by Peaceniks who claim to be in favor of peace but never stop marching long
to think of how long term world peace can be achieved.
The US is definitely going to stop the various warlords from killing each other or mounting attacks on a new government or starving 1 mm of their own countrymen or running WMD development programs. And agreements
will be worked out for re-building the oil industry and sharing of oil development contracts. And some countries
will bitch about "not getting their fair share" Fair share of what, oil belonging to Iraq? Interesting.
What we do will not be perfect, arguments will continue for years as to how it should have been done better.
There is a great deal to be done stateside Administration wise, after we are better positioned to defend against
or better yet, prevent Terrorist attacks.
If someones desire is for peace at any price how about endorsing some actions that will provide peace over here so we dont have to watch the skies or worry about working in big buildings lest they be destroyed.

Interesting that Scooter Libby's name is never mentioned. (Remember how much publicity Bill Kristol got in the same job.) Is he publicity-shy?

yes. I think the difference in the attention he and Kristol attract is based partly on personality, but more on the bosses involved. People knew who Kristol was because he was "Dan Quayle's brain." Cheney himself is such an obvious force that there's no need to look behind him for a puppeteer pulling the strings.
