With luck, this effort will prove to be a big distraction to the California Republican establishment. another kamikaze charge No smart candidate is going to want to tackle this mess at this time, by default you get the other kind. TP Simon said he wasn't getting involved in a Republican effort to recall Davis, but he didn't rule out trying to replace the governor if the recall makes it to the ballot. Recall efforts have been attempted against every California governor in the past 30 years but none has collected the needed signatures — usatoday.com
