Saw the article which included VX but would like to see some more proof - this is likely to be a mistake. I think they jumped to a conclusion here from the VX antidote we did provide.

Personally, I wouldn't supply any of the biological material to Iraq. I would expect them to use it for ulterior purposes especially knowing what I know now. But I doubt the folks at ATCC thought so then. Iraq isn't so backward a country. They do have scientists and are one of the most advanced Arab countries, probably the most advanced. And I expect the ATCC and Commerce Dept. did in fact consider it was for medical research. We did ship the same type tissue lots of other places.

But I'm not sure what relevance this all has to the issue of Iraq today. If we had "sold them chemical weapons" a couple decades ago - which isn't true - it would be an argument that we know they have WMD's and should force them to should prove they've all been destroyed.
