I quit hundreds of times...truly. I hated living like an ashtray day after day. By the time I actually QUIT for good, I had grown to hate cigarettes. I would wake in the morning with the flu and unable to swallow with my throat, but I could always light up a smoke. When you are fighting it and wanting to smoke the desire will be there eating at you morning noon and night. That is ok. Go ahead and start again. You cannot quit till you sincerely understand and hate it deep inside. JUST KEEP QUITTING. Nobody was ever more despairing than me. But I have not smoked for about 7 years, and I don't even know the date I quit!!

Once an addict, always an addict. :-) Actually, not that bad. If I remember correctly, the nasty stuff quits after a few weeks. But you'll still commonly get urges for months. And years later you can still get an ocassional one. You're body remembers that nicotine and wants it. Hang on. They'll go away. And pay attention to what Solon said about repeated quitting. If you fall off the wagon, get back on when you can. Each time you try to quit and fail, you teach yourself another trick you use to get get yourself smoking again. When you know it's there, you can defeat it. Eventually you get far enough that the addiction loses its grip. Oh, yeah. It helps if you give up sex at the same time. :-)
