Do you understand why he took the conservative one?

Yes, of course.......liberalism represents the idealism of youth. The cruel reality of life makes you a conservative. One has no choice in the matter.

My conservatism is very much like liberalism with good sense thrown in where it is needed. National defense, the war on terror, and a conservative Court are just good sense. A liberal Court is an activist Court, and over time, the activism is going to establish new law in favor of criminals and the people who are on the wrong sides of the issues.

Fiscal responsibility is an outgrowth of conservative principles, not liberal ones. The fundamental precepts of liberalism are contrary to fiscal responsibility in my view.
